Big Picture
Step one is to think of all the areas of your life you want to work on. The main ones are Health, Career, Finances, Home and Relationships. Think about what you would like for each of these or add your own.
Goals
Once you have your big dreams it’s time to build your goals. Ask yourself where do you want to be in the next few months, 6 months, or even a full year from now. One way to set goals is to use the SMART method as jumping off point. This means your goal needs to fit the following criteria to make it easier to accomplished.
- Specific
- Measurable
- Attainable
- Relevant
- Time-bound
However, this method is used in corporate settings so it might seem rigid to some. I personal use this a way to check my goal to make sure it hits most of these. The time-bound part is what gets me because of course I want to accomplish the goal in 30 days but in reality it could take a year. I have to be realistic with myself when setting goals.
That being said you can read this blog post HOW TO SET DAILY HABITS to learn about setting a Dream Sequence.
Milestones
Setting goals is a great step but you are not going to get anywhere if you cannot see yourself hitting milestone along the way. So many people focus on getting to the end goal. Imagining achieving the goal while ignoring the journey it would take to get there. And then when look at the steps that are needed to achieve the goal, it gets overwhelming. This is where most people stop or convince themselves that they do not actually need to achieve that goal any more.

Setting milestones will help you break down your goals into manageable steps or actions to make you feel accomplished.
Monthly, Weekly, Daily Habits
The last step in figuring out your dream life is to connect it to your current reality. Your milestones are not going to achieve themselves. From your milestones you are going to pick a couple monthly habits, a weekly habit and daily habits you can accomplish in order to bring your goals to life.
The reason you need monthly, weekly and daily habits is to hold yourself accountable to showing up for your goals.
The Action Plan
Now that you have a visual of your dream life, clear goals, milestones and habits it’s time to put that plan into action. You can have all the to-do lists and thoughts around your dreams but until you take intentional daily action, you won’t see the progress you crave.

Habit Tracking
Building a habit tracker or use this one to hold yourself accountable. A habit tracker can be part of your daily night routine where you check off each item before you got to bed so you know you achieved what you set out to do.
Check In’s
Schedule time each week to check in with yourself on how you are feeling. Life does throw you curve balls and it some weeks will feel like a breeze and others won’t. Check in on your energy levels, life responsibilities and when you can show up for your daily habits is essential to stay on track.
Vision Board
Sit with you vision board as often as possible. Read this blog post on creating a vision board that actually works. It takes time and effort to energetically connect with your big life goals.
Cycle Syncing
Cycle syncing is for women and people who menstruate. Our energy levels and hormones are different week to week. This is essential to understanding how you can show up towards your goals. Cycle Syncing is where you track your menstrual cycle and then adapt your schedule week to week. An example is exercise. Your body is going to be able to do a higher intensity workout during your follicular phase than your luteal phase.
Nervous System Regulation
Figuring out your dream life also comes down to feel safe in your own skin. Life has given you a plethora of thoughts, limiting beliefs, habits and perspectives. It is up to you to sort through them and decide which ones are causing you to feel unsafe in your skin. Breathwork, meditation, somatic exercises can all help regulate your nervous system.
Journaling
Lastly, an oldie but a goodie is journaling. I would like for my perfectionists out there to pick a journal they have bought but have yet to use or started to use. Don’t rip out the pages just flip to the next page and start writing there. Journaling is a great tool to help you process your thoughts and get all those wants, wishes and fears out of your head and onto paper.
