32 Solo Date Ideas to Get to Know Yourself

Are you ready to get to know yourself on a deeper level? Whether you are in a relationship or single, getting to know yourself is one of the best things you can do. You spend a lot of time with yourself, it’s time to feel comfortable in knowing exactly who you are and what you like to spend your time doing.

I decided to start solo dating about 2 years ago. I got out of a 4 year relationship and I asked myself the questions. What do I like? What is my favourite food? What is my favourite hobby? And I felt like I truly didn’t know. I had answers for these questions sure but I realized I never put myself first to really understand who I was before I got into that relationship.

I do believe that people can grow with each other but I was also in my early 20s and I did not have much lived experience. Now that I am in my 30s I can truly say that loving and trusting yourself is one of the best things you can do.

Benefits of a solo date?

Solo dating is a great way to get out of your comfort zone, try new things, meet new people and build your confidence. This will also teach you what you deserve in a partnership if that is something you desire. And this is true for platonic and romantic partnerships. If you can woo yourself with dates, flowers, home cooked meals, thoughtful gifts just because then the people in your life are going to truly have to add something special to be apart of it. And you will also not accept the bare minimum from a partner because you have set the standard for your self.

How to plan a solo date?

Going on a solo date feels weird because you do not have to plan out the logistics in the same way as a romantic date or meeting up with friends. You can truly just go. However, to make your solo date feel special, to get you into the mindset of spending time with yourself you can prepare for your solo date in a similar way as an actual date.

  1. Schedule in your date
  2. Pick out an outfit that makes you feel comfy, sexy, powerful, free. Or whatever you want to feel for that date.
  3. Set some time to get ready, putting on a playlist that gets you excited and happy.
  4. Head out on your date.
  5. Remember to be in the moment on your date, put the phone down, ask yourself some questions and really centre yourself throughout the date.

Also, your solo date can be a combination of the dates above. You can go window shopping, head the library and then at home make yourself a brand new dinner. The intention behind your solo date is to put yourself outside of your comfort zone while trying something new.

If you become so comfortable and confident in your ability to try to new things, understand what you like, what you dislike, you will realize that no matter what you will always have yourself to keep you company when life throws you curve balls.

Solo dating is if self love and self care had a baby. Combine the two to be come unstoppable in your pursuit of joy in your daily life.
