The 6 Month Plan to a Completely Different Life.

Lock in for the next six months to have completely different life. Pick one goal for each area of your life below:

  1. Health
  2. Home
  3. Finances
  4. Relationships
  5. Career

What if all you need is 6 months to change your life forever.

I mean you could change your life in 24 hours if you really tried but it probably wouldn’t last. To make a change in your life you have to battle the demons that are currently drinking mimosas on the front porch of your mind gossiping about how stuck and unmotivated you are. Really, you have to be that annoying neighbour that heads outside, tells them to get off your porch so you can clear room for some better guests.

Six months is not that much time if you really think about the grand scheme of your life. It’s half a year. 182.5 days. January to June. July to December. August to January. September to February… you get the picture.

Pick a 6 month time frame. Start now, pick a start date like the first day of fall. I don’t care. Your life is going to change because you CHOOSE to change it. Let’s get started.

Where do you want to be six months from now?

Oop, there was a fleeting thought that one of those demons swatted away with a yellow electric swatters. I can hear the zap from here.

Think that thing again, louder this time. You want to write, dance, run, smile, lift weights, make a friend, get straight A’s, start a new job, move to a new town, start a youtube channel… the list can go on.

What is the fleeting thought that you are scared to even fathom might come into your life. That incredible joyful wild possibility? Feel it bloom in your chest.

It’s scaring thinking about the good when you have spent so much time going straight to the worse case scenario. Thinking about the best case scenario probably makes your chest feel tight, your stomach churn, your eyes squint and an over all sense of panic. This cannot possibly be. A positive, amazing thing? For me?

Yup, it’s going to be yours why. Because you are going to explore that idea for six months.

Now how will this six month life changing timeline work for you? You have options because what works for me might not work for you. Make this your own.

If the idea of it gets you that excited imagine achieving in the tangible.

The Goals

As a multi passionate creative, goal setting can be overwhelming because there is just so much that you want to do. You can brain dump everything under the sun that you want to accomplish but you will have to pick something to focus on. I am going to create example goals and work through them so you can see how this works:

Set goals for each of the categories mentioned above:

  • Career Goal: Monetize YouTube
  • Relationship Goal: Make New Friends
  • Health Goal: Hit Goal Weight
  • Home Goal: Declutter my Bedroom
  • Finance Goal: Save $10,000

At a glance these goals seem great but what will you actually do to make them a reality. And how are they going to fit into your current reality.

The Dream Sequence

I touched on this process in How to Set Daily Habits but I have flushed it more below. In order to reach your dreams you need to understand how to get there. Or at least my analytic, plan loving brain likes to see the exact steps I need to take in order to accomplish my goals. So let’s build a dream sequence for each goal.

Receive YouTube Partner Program Email → Hit 4000 Watch Hours → Reach 1000 Subscribers → Post a weekly video → Editing Content →Filming Content →Writing Scripts → Picking a Channel Theme (NOT A NICHE) → Learning about YouTube channels → Picking a channel name → Opening a YouTube Channel

Meet up with a new friend every week → Invite friend to coffee → Reach out to friend via text → Attend event or group —> join a club or fb group to meet people → Start conversations → Join a friendship app

Step on the scale and see goal weight reflected back —> Feel confident in the kitchen → Feel strong lifting weights → Workout Routine → Counting Calories → Try new recipes → Daily Walk → Mindset

An Organized Bedroom → Desk Drawers → TV Stand Drawers → Storage Pins → Closet Space → Under bed → Mindset → One thing at a time

Savings account hits $10,000 -> Tracking Income→ Side Business Plan -> Side Business Ideas → Income Generating Activities —> Money Mindset → Research income streams → Spending Audit → Expense & Income Report

You can make as many steps as you need in order to bring your dream to life. The next step is to break these steps into milestones and daily habits. Now, you are going to analyze where you are in the sequence, turn the arrow around the other way to see how far you need to go to accomplish your big goal.

The Milestones

Each of the sections of your dream sequence can be a milestone or some that are a little more vague like “Income Generating Activities” you are going to want to get more details in order to take action.

Let’s flush out your goal even more in order to get to your milestones.

Expense & Income Report

  • Sit down and analyze current income and expenses (pick a date to do this)

Spending Audit

  • Take a week to analyze your spending habits and where you can audit yourself. Do you tend to add to cart the moment you get can text message from a clothing brand.
  • Can you unsubscribe to any sales emails that will be to enticing for you?
  • Are there any subscription services you can cancel for a few months?

Research income streams

  • Watch 3 YouTube videos on diversifying income streams
  • Follow 5 creators who talk about finances, savings and business.

Money Mindset

  • Start a money journal
  • Pick money affirmations that align with your money goals.
  • Learn about your money belief system and how that can be holding you back.

Income Generating Activities

  • What are the current money generating activities you can do? Can you ask for a raise? Sell items around your home? Join a food delivery service on the weeks? Start a side business?
  • Pick 3 Income Generating Activities to implement this week.

Side Business Ideas

  • Research 5 Side Business Ideas that interest you
  • Work through the 5 Steps to Determine if one or more of those side businesses can work for you.

Side Business Plan

  • Build a business plan for your side business (Start up costs, launching date, materials, etc.)

Income Tracking

  • Track how much money is coming in each month. Write out a list of where your money is coming in from ($100 from selling an old camera on FB marketplace, $180 picking up an extra shift, $300 food delivery) and then see where else you need to make more money.

Savings account hits $10,000

  • Do a monthly or biweekly check in to see where you are at towards your savings goal. Remember, starting your income generating activities is not linear. You might make $0 in month one, $1000 in month 2, $400 in month 3, $3000 month 4 etc.

The goal of breaking down each step is to see where your main milestones are. For me I would choose 5 milestones to get to my 10K Savings Goal.

  1. Milestone One: Complete expense and income report + Audit my spending.
  2. Milestone Two: Start and Maintain a Money Mindset Practice
  3. Milestone Three: Earn my first $1000 from Money Generating Activities
  4. Milestone Four: Create a 6 Business Plan for a new side business
  5. Milestone Five: Launch Business and track income each month until I hit my savings goal.

Note your milestones do not need to be linear as well. You can work on Milestone 1 2 and 3 at the same time. In fact, completing milestone one will be something you can check off quickly building your confidence in moving towards your goals. And milestone 2 is something you can do throughout the six months until it becomes habitual.

The Daily Habits

The last step in this process is to determine your daily habits that will help you reach each milestone which will then lead you to hitting your big goals.

Ask yourself this: What can I do each day to reaching my savings goal:

  1. Journaling in the morning about money
  2. Speaking money affirmations out loud like “Saving 10K is so easy” or “10K in savings makes me feel safe” or “10,000 is deposited into my savings account with each breath I take”
  3. Every night before bed you open your bank account and visualize 10k in your savings account.
  4. Working Doordash or Uber each evening until you hit a money goal
  5. Listing clothes on poshmark or upthreads
  6. Posting something for sale on FB every single night for a week
  7. Scheduling 45 minutes every day to work on your side business launch plan
  8. Reading a book about money every night before bed.
  9. Listening to money frequency music as you fall asleep
  10. Removing subscriptions that you no longer need for the next 6 months.

Now you have 10 things you can do each day or throughout the week depending on schedule. If you do not know what to do, come back to the list you made and do one thing on it.

Your goals are an accumulation of the daily actions you take.

Now I am someone who can get bored really quickly so I like to do a daily habit reset every month to bring in new energy if needed.

Complete a Daily Habit Reset to feel rejuvenated and excited about your goals again:

Analyze your current daily habits:

  1. How did they work out for you. If you have not been prioritizing habits recently, that’s okay! You are here to change that now.
  2. Where did you struggle with your current habits?
  3. Do you have more energy in the morning or evening?
  4. What area of your life do you want to prioritize for the next month (mindset, health, nutrition, business, hobbies, relationships etc.) A combo of any of these is great too!
  5. Why are those areas of your life important to you right now?

For each habit you pick, answer the following questions:

Why do you want to implement this habit?

What will you feel if you stuck with this habit for the month?

How will you fit this habit it your current day to day? (morning, afternoon, evening, while you make coffee, on the car ride to or from work) get specific on all the places you can implement this into your life right now.

What is one thing that might prevent you from committing to this habit? Why?

Train your brain to see these habits as easy peasy (they might not be right now). Write out three statements about how easy it is for your to accomplish this habit.

You might be an all or nothing girlie. You want to jump right in a do everything all at once. But that is overwhelming. Here are two 6 month plans that can help you implement your daily habits and goals.

The 6 Month Plan: Slow & Steady

You have a big goal for five areas of your life. This goal can be as big as you want it to be but we are going to make progress over the next six months through intentional, daily action.

  • Month One – Work on Goal 1’s Daily Habits for 30 Days
  • Month Two – Add Goal 2’s Daily Habits
  • Month Three – Add Goal 3’s Daily Habits
  • Month Four – Add Goal 4’s Daily Habits
  • Month Five – Add Goal 5’s Daily Habits
  • Month Six – Audit + Continue

This 6 month plan is for slow and steady growth. Imagine if you focus on savings for the first month, then worked on declutter and slowly built your life around your habits so that in 6 month time you have combined your goals from all areas of your life into your day to day.

Now if you want to just do it all right now. You can’t pick on goal and work on it then the next plan is for you.

The 6 Month Plan: Balancing it all.

As a multi passionate creative, goals, ideas and projects ebb and flow with the seasons, our mood and whatever is sparking our interest at the time. How can you set six month goals and actually stick to them.

Using the goals from above here is how you can balance it all:

  • Career Goal: Monetize YouTube
  • Relationship Goal: Make New Friends
  • Health Goal: Hit Goal Weight
  • Home Goal: Declutter my Bedroom
  • Finance Goal: Save $10,000

Month 1: Start Small

Pick one tiny daily habit for each and create a habit tracker.

  • Monetize YouTube: Film 5 second clips of your life every day
  • Make New Friends: Join a friendship app and swipe the app for 5 minutes a day.
  • Hit Goal Weight: Walk 7000 Steps Per Day
  • Declutter my Bedroom: Pick one drawer, box, closet to declutter this month and schedule a day and time you will declutter it.
  • Save $10,000: Read 10 pages a day of a money related book

Each month after keep what is working the same and adjust or add something else. And keep working through this cycle until find a combination of your habits that connect with your long term goals.

Remember that time is going to pass. You get to decide how long you take until you get started.

As a multi passionate creative it can be scary setting daily habits because you want to have enough time to explore anything new. Plan for this!

Allow space for your creative energies. I gave myself 45 minutes every day to just create. There was no plan or purpose to it. Just create. I could write, crochet, diamond paint. I did make myself do it for 45 minutes because I felt like I had a limiting belief around time. My main excuse had always been I don’t have time to [fill in any goal here]. So I wanted to challenge myself. Out of my entire day all of my habits added up to 3 hours and 15 minutes of my life. Only 3 hours and 15 minutes! I scroll for six hours a night. Or watch four Netflix shows back to back without even thinking. With that frame of reference I knew I could carve enough time to get my habits done.

Look at the date right now when you are reading this. Where will you be in 6 months? Isn’t that exciting! Let’s take action.
