10 Things to Do Before 2026 if you are serious about achieving your goals.

Uncover your limiting beliefs and release the ones holding your back.

Your limiting beliefs are parts of your subconscious blocking you from reaching your goals. These beliefs are solidified in your childhood/early teens based on life experience and the people around you. In order to uncover these beliefs you need to name them and reframe them.

This is hard work. This is continuous work. There isn’t a checklist of things to do and then you reach a checkpoint and never go back. Our minds and bodies hold onto experiences to protect us.

Susanna Kenyon-Muir writes “This is a survival mechanism; the brain tries to protect us from future harm by reinforcing the idea that avoiding certain actions or situations is safer.”

So how do you combat limiting beliefs if your brain has decided it is safer?

Three ways to overcome limiting beliefs is to:

  1. Catalog your wins
  2. Catch negative self talk in the act
  3. Reframe your limiting belief with curiosity

The goal for the rest of the year is to work through these steps in every area of your life you want to see change in 2026. Catalog your finance wins, relationship wins etc. And keep a journal of all the negative thoughts that come up around wanting to strive for more. This will allow you to go into 2026 being curious about your goals. Its a slow, uncomfortable process but it will open up so many doors to your dream life.

Declutter one space in your home

As you are working on the internal clutter it is also beneficial to declutter your home. A messy or cluttered space can lead to overwhelm and inaction. Take the time to find a drawer, closet or entire room to sort through each item. This will help you feel refreshed and rejuvenated going into the new year.

Take yourself on a Solo Date

Spend time alone doing an activity that brings you joy. A Solo Date is designed to help you get out of your comfort zone, build confidence and try something new.

Try a workout you haven’t done before

Put on a dance workout, go for a run, try mobility exercise or take a class at a local studio. Take the pressure off building the perfect exercise routine for the new year. Start with just one fun exercise. There is not expectation to do it again. There is no expectation to be perfect. It is simply being curious about what other ways to move your body.

Write a letter to future you

Be real, raw and open up about where you want to me. What do you crave for future you. There are a couple options here to write a letter as the future version of you who has already completed everything on your 2026 goals list or you can write this letter to yourself. What do you want her to overcome? What thoughts do you know are holding you back?

Clean out your closet and donate what you no longer need

Get rid of clothes you will not wear in 2026. Donate what you can and dispose of the rest as responsibly as you can. Plus set the intention of only buy what you need when it comes to clothing. Fast fashion is killing our planet and being mindful of what you wear, what you have in your closet is can contribute to take our care of our planet.

Visit a local shop you haven’t been to before

Be a tourist in your own city. Connect with your community. This can be a coffee shop to support a local family. Window shop at a small business to get ideas of what you might want to buy in the new year. You can also make this a solo date buy exploring new places. Venturing in your own city can help you feel connected right where you are. Many of use thing we need to move or travel to experience new things but I bet there are tons of things to do in your own city that can be exciting and fulfilling.

Make a new recipe

Make dinner, dessert or a snack you haven’t before. I am finding as I write this blog post that this is all about curiosity. Trying new things, getting out of your comfort zone and making the most of the last couple weeks of the year.

Go through your photo and clear up space on your phone

Another area to declutter is your digital spaces. This can be your photo album on your phone, download folder on your laptop. Back up the photos your want to keep and put them in a safe space. And then delete the random screenshots you won’y ever come back too.

Read a book or essay on a topic you find intriguing

And lastly, push yourself to learn something new. It feels weird being a beginner or like you don’t understand something. But you won’t get good at something unless you start. Pick up book at your local library, find a substack that intrigues you or watch a youtube video essay on a topic. This will expand your knowledge base and allow you to try new things without the pressure of doing something new.

By starting your journey now you will be outside of your comfort zone, striving for new goals before 2026 is upon us.
