- Platform: Pick your main platform and become really freaking good at it and then start repurposing your content to other platforms. In the beginning you might think you just want to be on Instagram but then realize you love short form video and move to TikTok. This beginning phase is where you need to test out the type of content you want to create and what platform feels the best to do just that. Play around with each social media platforms until one fits your vibe.
- Mission: Why do you want to create content? Is it a creative outlet? Motivate and inspire others? Get clear on what your driving force is. This can be wanting to earn a living but there also needs to be something more. You might see a lot of creators posting how they are earning $1000 of dollars from creating content but they never really tell you how. All you see is their end result and not the journey. You journey has to start somewhere and that usually means to posting content, creating community without any promise of money.
- Posting: Quantity over Quality in the first 3 to 6 months. In the beginning you want to pump out the content to get use to creating. This is 2 fold. The more you create the more confident you will get at it. The next thing is seeing what content works with your audience and the algorithms. Post 3 times a month compared to 60 times a month. That is 60 chances the algorithms takes your content and runs with it.
- Community Engagement: Social Media is social. How are you going to connect with your community? What brings your audience together? What impact do you want to have on your community?
- Tell your Story: Remember that your social media account is YOURS. Yes, you might feel the need to emulate other people because that is what it looks like it to be successful. But remember to tell your story. Connect to your life, your purpose, your story. You only have one life to live and in this timeline we get to vlog it.

If have a US or UK TikTok you have access to the creator fund which gets you paid per view. You do have to qualify for the program with a certain number of views and followers but it is the easiest way to make money (and also why people post rage baiting content or sensationalized videos, to get paid).

- Your video views (if you can get more eyes on their products, they will pay)
- The style of your content – how you edit and show up online might align with a brand.
- Niche – does your niche align with the brand.
- Do you already use the product?
- Do you use a similar product and can see this brands products in your day to day?
In order to get brand deals you want to contact the brands marketing team and pitch your services.
User Generated Content
You can make money filming videos or taking photos for brands to use on their social media accounts as organic content or ads. This is a very lucrative business since brands need a lot of content to maintain their feeds and you do not need a large following.
Since you are already making content for your accounts, filming for other brands can fit into your schedule fairly easily.

Ad Sense
Ad sense is Googles advertising program. Your YouTube creators use ad sense once they entire the YouTube Partner Program. You can also use it on blogs or websites to generate some revenue from ads. For blogs and website it is a pay per click model. If someone clicks on the ad that is displayed, you will get paid. You will not get paid much but it is another revenue stream to have open.
Digital Products

A digital product can be anywhere from $5 – $500 depending on what you are offering. This is a great way to monetize your life as a content creator.
Affiliate Marketing
Lastly, Affiliate Marketing is another great income stream because you are just sharing products you already use and love (or at least that is how I view affiliate marketing). All companies will have an affiliate program where you get % of money from the sale when someone purchases through your a specific link. Most affiliate programs will be around 10% – 20% of the sale. And you can also join Amazon’s affiliate program as well which could be an even lower commission percentage. The best way to get started with this is to look around your house, find products you love and go look for their affiliate program.
