Mono Tasking Changed My Life

When you want to get stuff done, mono-task. Why?

Because spending a short period of time focusing on ONE task will get you farther than spending hours jumping from task to task to task.

Mono-Tasking changed my life as a multi passionate creative woman because I actually completed my to-do lists. Sitting down and working was no longer stressful and irritating. I started seeing my progress on all of my creative projects because I allocated small chunks of time to each of them.

What is Mono-Tasking?

Mono Tasking is focusing on one task at a time until it is completed or set an allocated amount of time to work on the one task.

The different between Mono-Tasking and Multi Tasking?

Multi tasking is working on a variety of tasks all at once. Usually jumping from task to task before one task is completed. You might find yourself rushing tasks to get to the next one in order to get all of your tasks done. This can lead to overwhelm, making unnecessary mistakes and frustration.

5 Reasons to Start Mono-Tasking

  1. Get more done in less time
  2. Less Stress
  3. Avoid Burnout
  4. Build your confidence
  5. Accomplish your goals

Let’s dive into each of these further so you can start Mono-Tasking throughout your days.

Get more done in less time

Mono Tasking will help you stay focused on one task without the distractions. You would be surprised with how much you can get done in a focused 25 minutes compared to a distract 3 hours. If you are intentional with your time and energy you will get more done in less time.

Less Stress

Reduce your stress by actually getting stuff done. Instead of jumping from task to task and leaving them half completed you will finish each task at hand. This way you are not overwhelming yourself with too much going on at once. And you can feel relieved as each task completed in its entirety so it doesn’t take up anymore brain power.

Avoid Burnout

It is very easy to work yourself into burnout because you just NEED to keep going. Imagine if you trusted yourself to always get your projects done. You do not have to do everything all at once. Pick the most essential tasks and do those first. Once your get comfortable with working through those add more one. But trying to do everything all at once, every single day will lead to burnout. No one wants that. And you cannot multi-task your way out of burnout.

Build Your Confidence

Watching yourself complete task after task will build your confidence. Imagine if you sat down for twenty minutes every day to work on a project. You will start to see that project come to life. Trusting yourself to show up towards the projects you want to accomplish is crucial.

Accomplish Your Goals

Once you start getting into the habit of showing up and focusing on a project you will achieve your goals. It won’t be as fast as others but you will chip away at your goals with consistent effort no matter how small.

The Goal of Mono-Tasking as a Multi Passionate Creative Woman

The goal of mono-tasking is to show you another way of working on your creative projects. It can be as simple as setting a twenty minute timer and just working on one thing. Once that timer goes off you get to decide to continue or move onto the next project.

As multi passionate creative woman, your energy comes in waves. Some days you can get everything you want done and feel so accomplished. Other times it might feel like trudging through quicksand to get even the most minute task complete.
